Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP)
The federal No Child Left Behind legislation requires schools and
districts to set as a goal that all students become “proficient”
in reading and mathematics by 2014. To meet this goal, all schools
must meet certain performance objectives each year, with the aim
being to make “adequate yearly progress” (AYP).
