School Committee

The Beverly School Committee, as a representative body, seeks to understand, plan for, and meet the educational needs of the people it serves. It consists of seven members, six of whom shall be nominated and elected by the voters of each ward. The Mayor serves as the seventh member. Members of the School Committee hold office for a period of two years. Monthly meetings of the Beverly School Committee are held on the second Wednesday of the month and the School Committee of the Whole meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of the month. These meetings start at 7:30 PM in the Beverly Middle School Library.

There are two Standing Committees: Curriculum, Instruction, and Student Life and Finance and Facilities. These meetings are held on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month at 6:30 PM, prior to the Beverly School Committee and Committee of the Whole Meetings respectively.

There are two other subcommittees: Policy Subcommittee and the Negotiations Subcommittee, which meet on an as-needed basis.

Notifications of all meetings are posted in the City Clerk’s Office at the Beverly City Hall. On occasion, meeting times and dates may vary, and interested citizens should be sure to check the meeting schedule link above.
