Message from the Superintendent

Why is a new HighSchool needed?
With the City Council approaching a vote on funding of the construction / renovation project for Beverly High School, I have taken the time to write a letter to City Councilors in support of the project. The letter details the steps taken since 2000 when the New England Association of Schools and Colleges placed the school on "warning" for "large scale deterioration of the building, its infrastructure, and its instructional equipment". I've tried to summarize the accreditation steps that have taken place since 2000 as well as the study of options to resolve deficiencies.

The design of the new facility is efficient and forward-thinking and will support good teaching and learning for decades to come. I believe it is the best solution to the problems we face and have encouraged the City Council to vote its support.

Our school district is an excellent place for all students to learn and grow. After student safety, improving student achievement is our highest priority. I am truly proud of what we are able to do for the young people of this community and their families. Our progress as a school system in recent years is evidence that the Beverly community holds education as a high priority. As a result, we are held in high regard both regionally and around the state.

Quality education is achieved only through a partnership of educators, students, parents, and the greater community. As you search this website and learn more about our schools, I encourage you to look for ways you can support the work of our schools and help us achieve our mission "to enable all students to reach their potential through an academically challenging and diverse education".

As always, if you have any questions about our schools, please do not hesitate to contact a building principal or central office administrator.
