Athletic programs at Beverly High School are an integrated part of the school system’s total curriculum. Over 95% of our athletic teams received the academic excellence team award from the MIAA this past year. Citizenship is demonstrated throughout the athletic department. Eight teams have won Northeastern Conference sportsmanship awards the past two years alone. All students are encouraged to participate each season. This past year our various sports programs attracted over 1,200 student-athletes.

Recognition
Beverly High School athletic programs consistently rank among the top in the Northeastern Conference and the state. Beverly High School has captured the prestigious Harold S. Martin Trophy for athletic excellence in all sports within the Northeastern Conference 17 times in the award’s 34 year history, winning most recently in the 2007 academic year. Beverly High School consistently finishes in the top 10 for the Ernest Dalton Memorial Award standings given to the most successful athletic department in Division II in each year, winning the award in 1983 and 1992.

Programs
Beverly High School offers 30 varsity sports, as well as freshman and junior varsity level programs, fielding a total of 62 teams. Our program continues to expand. Over the past five years we have added boys’ and girls’ middle school cross country, girls’ varsity ice hockey, wrestling, and Varsity girls’ volleyball.

User Fees
In 2008-2009 Beverly High School moved to a tier user fee system depending on each sport. For detailed information, please refer to the athletic website at www.bhsonline.org, or by calling the athletic director, James Coffey, at 978-921-6141 The $100 fee for Briscoe Middle School covers any interscholastic athletic teams at the middle school level. Currently, the only team available is cross country. Since the various sports start at different times throughout the school year, students will be given a User Fee form at the start of the first season in which they participate.
