Special Education
The purpose of this portion of this Web site is to inform both
educators and parents of special education students of the free software that
will assist your students/child who currently struggle with the content in their
regular education classes. My goal is to only publish software that is
free. Because the software is free, the options are not as robust as commercial software. Since it is free try all pieces of software to you
find one that you enjoy.
This portion of my site contains many of the top Websites in the
area of learning disabilities. These sites contain many research articles
and links that can assist parents of LD children and teachers of LD students.
They provide a variety of activities for LD students.
This link includes three text readers that will help your
student/ child who struggles when reading grade - level material. When
using this software, it might be necessary to cut and paste a Web page into the
software's window. An example of this is the Read Please
product.
Inspiration is a great piece of software not only
for students with special needs but for all students. This software
allows students to organize their thoughts by creating concept webs that can
easily be translated into outlines. Great content appropriate images can

Grammar Slammer is a great piece of software in which students actively take part in correcting their grammar. If a student has a
question about something that they have written, just point the cursor over the
area, and Grammar Slammer will do the rest. To give Grammar Slammer a try,

This great grammar checking program can be installed in the tool
bar at the bottom of your computer screen. Grammar Expert Plus contains four
major features; grammar checker, spell checker, English grammar and a

This free program allows the Web surfer to
instantly get the definition of an unknown word without leaving the computer.
The user just has to click on the W
icon in the tool bar at the bottom of their computer monitor. When the
Word Web program launches, manually type the unknown word in the provided
area. You may also use your computer's cut and paste function.
