Music Program

Welcome to the Beverly Public Schools Music Department homepage!

The School Committee recently voted to eliminate fees for the music program (instrument rental fees still apply).

Our district prides itself on a comprehensive performing arts curriculum that includes vocal and instrumental instruction across the K-12 spectrum.

Students in our elementary grades participate in a general music curriculum through grade four.  Third and fourth grade students are able to participate in strings instruction in small groups during the school day. In addition, fourth grade students can participate in an after-school strings ensemble. Students in our band program begin instrumental training in the fourth grade. At the middle school level, band, strings and chorus rehearse as a class during the school day to prepare for numerous concerts, community performances, and festival competitions. The All City Jazz Band, also based at Beverly Middle School, is open to middle school students who demonstrate exceptional musical aptitude through an audition. There is also a small-group choral ensemble for seventh and eighth grade students that meets after school. Membership is determined through auditions.

Our award-winning Beverly High School instrumental program includes the Marching Panther Band, concert band, BHS Jazz Ensemble, and several chamber groups. There are over 250 students involved in the band programs at the middle and high school levels.
